VHR are delighted to announce our new CSR partnership with Youth Employment UK.

What is Youth Employment UK?

Youth Employment UK is the leading voice and expert on youth employment issues in the UK. The not-for-profit organisation was set up in 2012 to reduce youth unemployment and support every young person to progress. Youth Employment UK gives young people the tools to explore and develop their skills and career options as well as engaging employers in quality youth friendly practice, supporting them to become Youth Friendly Employers. The organisation leads key research into youth unemployment, and support government, business and third sector organisations with insight and expertise.

Youth Employment UK supports more than 70,000 young people per month with free online careers and skills information, shared the views of 3,000 young people in the 2019 Youth Voice Census and is currently working with brands such as McDonalds, Coca-Cola EP, DST, EY and many others, supporting their youth employment strategy, recruitment and CSR objectives. Youth Employment UK is also supporting the government with the development of the Youth Charter.

VHR’s Corporate Social Responsibility Programme

As an ethical recruitment company, VHR recognise the exceptional contribution that young people can make to business. In 2012 and 2013, Azem Hoti and Rebecca Fagan joined VHR as 17-year-old Apprentices. Now in 2019, both have since been promoted three times, Azem won the title of Best Temporary Recruitment Consultant of the Year in the 2019 Global Recruiter Awards and Rebecca leads the VHR Academy.

Last year our history of successful apprenticeships led to the creation of the VHR Academy: a bespoke training programme to transform eight inexperienced individuals into successful recruitment consultants. The third Academy launched in March 2019, and the training programme has helped VHR’s employee base grow from 60 to 100 employees in the past three years.

VHR take part in a variety of CSR activities every year, including: the Macmillan Coffee Morning, Get Loud for Deaf Children, cake and food sales, fancy dress, marathons, triathlons, relay races and the annual Santa Run through London. In the past two years VHR have raised over £25,000 for charity.

VHR’s partnership with Youth Employment UK will complement our existing charitable activities and enable our team of recruitment consultants to share their own career experiences and give advice to young people looking for their first jobs.

New Partnership: Working Together

VHR are looking forward to collaborating with Youth Employment UK in:

· Promoting the exciting yet little-known career paths across the Aerospace & Aviation, F1 & Automotive, Engineering & Defence and Marine & Renewables industries

· Creating best practice guides and video content to help young people identify the right career path for them and successfully start their first job

· Speaking to young people in schools and youth groups

· Representing the interests of young people and industry employers at parliamentary meetings and policy meetings to help drive positive youth employment practices across the UK.

Youth Employment UK CEO Laura-Jane Rawlings comments, ‘We are thrilled to announce our partnership with VHR. As engineering recruitment specialists, VHR’s team can offer a breadth of industry knowledge and recruitment advice that will help young people get started on a rewarding career path.’

VHR’s CEO Danny Brooks comments, ‘At VHR we have been passionate about charitable causes and helping young people since day one. For 16 years we have helped get young talent into the engineering sector and seen our own Apprentice recruitment consultants grow from strength to strength – now it’s time to create a long-term partnership that brings all our experience together.

‘We are delighted to be partnering with Youth Employment UK and look forward to working with their team to change the lives and career prospects of the UK’s young people.’
