VHR’s Charity in Recruitment

VHR are proud to support a variety of charitable causes and in 2017 alone we raised over £12,000 for charity.


VHR’s CSR activities in the past year include:

 

· VHR Run 5km Relay race for three charities

Employees from VHR’s London office, including VHR’s CEO Danny Brooks, ran the ‘I Move London Relay’ sponsored by Asics this week. The 5km race close to VHR’s HQ office was run in aid of raising money for charity and attempted to break a new Guinness World Record.

Collectively, VHR’s Lead Graphic Designer Ashley Johnson, Project Manager Dorren Majeed and Delivery Executive Andreea Olariu have already raised more than £110, which will be divided across three different charities.

The Running Charity – aiming to improve the lives of 16-25 year-olds who are homeless or at risk of homelessness
Sported Charity – providing much-needed support to over 3,000 community groups across London and the UK, all united in using the power of sport to transform young lives
Laureus – using sport's ability to help change the world for the better by improving the lives of children and young people through sport.

· VHR participate in Loud Shirt Day for Auditory Verbal UK

Auditory Verbal UK is a charity with the vision to enable all deaf children to listen and speak as equals alongside their hearing peers. Auditory Verbal UK run Loud Shirt Day ever year to build awareness and raise funds for life-changing therapies, education and support programmes.

Thanks to the participation of VHR’s employees, we collected more than £50 on Loud Shirt Day.

. VHR Volunteers in India for the WE Charity

WE is an international charity that partners with communities to help lift themselves out of poverty using a holistic, sustainable five-pillar development model.

Andreea and Samantha met with the incredible ME to WE staff to work alongside community members on a sustainable development project in Rajasthan state, India. The project allows volunteers first-hand experience in helping break the cycle of poverty, as well as an amazing opportunity to make genuine, lasting connections and tour the local region.

· VHR’s Divisional Director – Middle East Adrian Mansfield Completing the Bloodwise Blenheim Palace Triathlon

Bloodwise is a charity that funds world-class research into all types of blood cancer, the fifth most common cancer with the 3rd highest fatality rate of all cancers. Bloodwise relies on donations to provide life-saving research for adults and children and work towards a world without blood cancer.

Adrian started in the triathlon’s sixth wave on the Sunday morning in the Sprint category. After successfully completing last year’s triathlon, Adrian finished the Bloodwise Blenheim Palace Triathlon 2018 in a time of 1 hour and 45 minutes.

· VHR’s CEO Danny Brooks participated in the Cape Town Cycle Tour in South Africa

Laureus is a global movement that celebrates the power of sport to bring people together as a force for good. Their philosophy is using the power of sport to end violence, discrimination and disadvantage amongst children and young people.

Danny Brooks raced the Cape Town Cycle Tour with Olympic Gold Medal winner Daley Thompson as part of Team Laureus.

· Supporting Christmas Jumper Day in Aid of Save the Children

The Save the Children Fund is an international non-governmental organisation that promotes children's rights, provides relief and helps support children in developing countries.

Save the Children ran Christmas Jumper Day 2017 to raise money for children in need of vital food, medicine and support all over the world. VHR participated in Christmas Jumper Day and raised £money for Save the Children.

· Running the London Santa Dash in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital

Every Christmas Great Ormond Street hospital faces new challenges, with 618 seriously ill children from across the UK needing GOSH for life-saving treatments. The London Santa Dash raises money for the families, patients and staff that have to balance the everyday struggles of complex illnesses.

VHR’s team ran in Santa outfits to contribute towards aiding children’s treatment, recovery and understanding of their illness.

· VHR’s CEO Danny Brooks, voted Global Director of the Year by the Institute of Directors, Cycled around Australia for Children with Rare Diseases

The Captain’s Ride is the highlight of the Steve Waugh Foundation’s annual fundraising campaign – an internationally-attended ‘by approved application only’ exclusive on-road cycle tour over six days. Steve Waugh personally invites and creates a unique team of International VIP Riders who make up the inspirational Leadership Program each evening.

Danny Brooks, Steve Waugh and Daley Thompson finished the cycle ride across Australia. In taking on the Captains Ride as a cyclist, Danny committed to raising a minimum of $10,000!

· VHR Sponsored and Attended the Virgin Atlantic Charity Golf Day

The Virgin Atlantic Charity Golf Day was held on 14th September 2017 in aid of some fantastic charities including:

The Bobby Moore Fund – a Cancer Research UK foundation set up in memory of legendary footballer Bobby Moore to fight bowel cancer
The Baby Snow Fairy Fund – raising money for Neonatal Intensive Care Units

VHR sponsors all the flags of the golf course at the Virgin Atlantic Charity Golf Day every year. The 2017 Virgineers Golf Charity Day was enjoyed by VHR’s CEO Danny Brooks and Divisional Directors Adam Coath, Adrian Mansfield and Conor McKeon/

· Hosted the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning for Macmillan Cancer Care

The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event for people facing cancer. Since 1991, Macmillan's Coffee Mornings have raised a total of £75million for cancer support.

Throughout the day, VHR continued to participate in numerous Cake-Off-themed fundraising games, such as ‘guess the height of the world’s tallest cake’ and ‘cake bingo’. As a result, the total amount VHR raised for Macmillan Cancer Trust was an amazing £184!
