Engineering Manager - Avionics

To assist managing Avionics tasks. Reliability analysis, Configuration Management, Mods analysis, Aircraft specification, and performance, Reliability, and reporting. Manage implementation of aircraft maintenance activities in accordance with the Continuous Airworthiness Management and operational requirements and as approved by (GACA).


  • People Leadership
  • Manage the effective achievement of sub-department objectives by setting individual objectives, managing performance, developing, and motivating the team to maximise performance.

Engineering Functions

  • Manage and Control all Avionics related Airworthiness Directives and Service Bulletins to ensure that all mandatory instructions are properly assessed, decided, all required related documents are issued and complied in timely manner to maintain airworthiness and safety standards.
  • Ensure high level non-mandatory modification assessment is performed in view of safety enhancement, significant reliability improvement, cost, and maintenance reduction. Evaluate and verify engineering order issue to provide correct, adequate, and approved maintenance data in line with the applicable regulations.
  • Drive and control reliability cycle within the organisation to ensure appropriate progress and priorities to expedite the effective mitigating action. Follow-up on alert notifications sent by the reliability program department and respond in accordance with the KPI requirements, follow-up with OEM regarding open reliability items. To improve the fleet reliability and on-time performance.
  • Monitor and ensure internal/external audit findings and assigned reports by QA are satisfactorily closed within time frame or as otherwise agree with QA.
  • Lead and oversee the management of reliability programs related to Avionics.
  • Oversee the AD/SB related to Airframe and Structure review and management activities.
  • Analyse Airworthiness Directives related to Avionics determine applicability and compliance requirements. Ensure that all applicable ADs are processed in accordance with applicable process.
  • Manage the fleet modification management activities related to Avionics.
  • Manage the technical delay and cancellation related to Avionics tracking and management.
  • Ensure regular and sufficient support during on-time performance / reliability meetings driven by operational departments.
  • Implement SMS systems and processes and ensure formal Risk Assessments are carried out for operationally significant changes.

Continuous Improvement in the Delivery of Excellence

  • Motivate subordinates and contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes, and practices considering ‘international leading practice’, improvement of business processes, cost reduction, and productivity improvement.
  • Promotes Safety through implementation of SMS/Human Factors processes and formal Risk Assessments upon operationally significant changes such as introduction of new processes, new organisation, or equipment, or upon changes to existing procedures or processes with significant operational impact.


Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures

  • Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
  • Maintains a Safety ethos through implementation of SMS/Human Factors processes and formal Risk Assessments upon operationally significant changes such as introduction of new processes, new organisation, or equipment, or upon changes to existing procedures or processes with significant operational impact.
  • Implement and enforce Security, Safety, Compliance and Quality policies contained in the manuals and as applicable to their work activates/ department.
  • Ensure their staff received and maintained the qualification necessary to perform their duties relevant including but not limited to the performance of security, safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Encourage security and safety reporting, hazard identification, and assuring effective risk control measures applied.
  • Notifying Safety Department and superiors immediately of any accidents, incidents, or safety related events, safety violations and/or injuries.
  • Ensuring that security and safety policies applicable during hazardous tasks are strictly complied with.


  •  Assist in the preparation of timely and accurate statements and reports to meet department requirements, policies, and quality standards.

Job-Specific Knowledge/Skills: 

➢ In-depth knowledge of aircraft engineering.

➢ Detailed understanding of safety principles surrounding aircraft operating processes and


➢ In-depth knowledge of downtime analysis and good knowledge of problem-solving tools.

➢ Proficiency in MS Office applications.

➢ Proficiency in English (must).

➢ Regulatory and Compliance awareness.


Desired Experience/Qualifications:

➢ 15 years of experience as an engineer in the aviation industry.

➢ At least 10 years in a supervisory function.

➢ Key User in AMOS/MIS with 5 years active experience

Minimum Qualifications:

➢ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Related Fields or Aircraft Maintenance Engineer license with associated experience.
