Last week VHR attended LCV2017 to discover how low-carbon vehicles and new engineering technology are transforming the automotive industry.

The recent announcement that the sale of new diesel and petrol cars will be banned in the UK by 2040 has sparked significant debate: how can the vehicle manufacturing industry remain compliant with automotive legislation whilst retaining optimum speed and performance? Many car manufacturers are now investing in automotive infrastructure to facilitate electric vehicle development.

How Will Low-Carbon Vehicles Affect the F1 & Automotive Industries?

The recent success of hybrid vehicles across the globe have bridged the gap between traditional automotive and low-carbon vehicles, and the automotive and motorsport industries are continuing  to strive further towards green energy. VHR currently works with many electric and autonomous vehicle manufacturers who have embraced regulation changes and placed new technology and innovation at the heart of their automotive engineering.

Formula One teams and car manufacturers will require increasingly detailed skillsets and greater volumes of workforces, so must sufficiently target potential candidates at the point of considering a career in the industry. In order to secure the technical workforces of tomorrow, industry leaders must stay up to date with market trends and developments in technology to best promote automotive jobs to younger and untapped talent pools in search of the most fulfilling career paths.

Technical workers and F1 & Automotive engineers will also face challenges. Candidates who continually upskill themselves will ensure their knowledge and experience match the requirements of motorsport jobs and the needs of leading motorsport companies.

Low-Carbon Vehicles: Performance Engineering

Low-carbon does not necessarily mean low speed – low-carbon vehicles could actually increase race car performance. Car manufacturers experimenting with lighter components are creating weight efficiencies, and regenerative technologies are lowering vehicle emissions by turning car waste into energy, generating engineering efficiencies and delivering high-performance.

Are low-carbon vehicles the future of F1 & Automotive? Will green technology provide Formula E with the high performance to rival Formula One, and inject even greater excitement into Motorsport championships?
